Reikhet was born near Odessa, Ukraine.
He studied physics and mathematices at Odessa University from 1938 to 1940. After World War II, he studies at the Odessa Art College and, eventually beginning in 1949, at the famed Repin Institute in Leningrad.
He participated in numerous exhibitions including the "Soviet-Moscow" exhibition in 1960.
He was bestowed with the title of People's Artist of Russia and was the President of the Creative Workshop of the Academy of Arts and Culture of Russia.
His works are in numerous Russian museums.
He is listed on page 257 of Matthew Bown's, A Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian and Soviet Painters.
